If you’re the type who dresses a certain way to achieve a particular look then you understand that living room decor goes far beyond simply being neat and tidy. There’s a look; there’s a feel. Your living room decor should have ambiance, especially one that reflects your interests, your vision.
The number of square metres you have has no influence on how cosy or inviting a the room can feel, but in principle, wild patterns and bold colours should be avoided if you want to visually enlarge the space as much as you can. It’s possible to create clever optical illusions with orientation, light, furniture layout, colour as well as living room storage space; fooling even the most discerning designer into thinking your room is much larger than it actually is.
Start think about the different zones of your living room and choose light sources accordingly: you'll need task lighting, such as a standing or table lamp over an armchair for reading; a dimmable central pendant light for those occasions when you want the room brightly lit; and plenty of accent lighting in the form of low-level table lights, picture lights and even lighting hidden within alcove shelving.
When it comes to living room decor, there isn’t a look more dynamic than an industrial setting. This high contrast style can be achieved with or without the exposed ceilings or naked pipes. With a bit of imagination, you can take any living space and render it industrial with the right accent furniture.
