Apple offloads 3 million units of the new iPad, making it “the strongest iPad launch yet”

On March 16 Apple launched the new iPad with Retina Display, an A5X chip, new iSight camera, improved color saturation, and, of course, some 4G LTE goodness. On March 20 they are already a good 3 million units short in the inventory, making it “the strongest iPad launch yet.”

The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.

Apple has confirmed the new iPad will make its way into an additional 25 countries this Friday, March 23, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

In contrast to the 3 million sales of the new iPad in just its first 3 days, the original iPad took a little over a month to hit just the 1 million mark! Shows just how Apple has brought us a long way ahead into the future.

Apple releases first TV ad for the new iPad (video)

Just hours after Apple unveiled to the world the new iPad, the Cupertino company has gone ahead with the release of a first TV commercial for the “resolutionary” gadget, focusing, as expected, on the device’s retina display.
