According to a report by Recode Apple is planning a new wearable device in October. The report also states that Apple would schedule a special event that month to show off the iWatch.
The iWatch is the most awaited wearable and the expectations are big. Apple would have to come out with something super exciting to live upto these expectations.
The new wearable from Apple is expected to do a lot with Health and Fitness tracking. Apple is expected to build a lot of sensors into the wearables which would let users track their hydration level, heart rate, blood glucose, sleep activity and a lot of other health aspects
As per the latest rumors the wearable will boast of a modified version of iOS 8 and a curved, OLED touchscreen.
I personally believe that iWatch is not just about health and fitness. It will have a lot to do with home automation too.
The Barclays/English Premier League (BPL/EPL) action is back after a 2 week gap (international break) and what better way to kick start the weekend than a showdown between Liverpool and Manchester United – arguably the biggest rivalry in the premier league. Both the Reds have a tremendous history behind and are managed by two legendary managers – King Kenny (Kenny Dalglish) and Emperor Ferguson (Sir Alex Ferguson).
The game was a tight affair in the first half but opened up completely in the second. Liverpool opened the scoring through a Steven Gerrard free kick – Gerrard of course returning from a long time out on the sidelines through a groin injury – and for United it was the little Mexican Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez who equalized with a nicely executed header. The match ended 1-1.
Other notable fixtures included Aston Villa’s visit to Manchester City, where a win for the hosts could take them top of the table thanks to United’s stalemate at Anfield, and Bolton’s clash with Wigan.
Following a private funeral held for family and friends of Jobs last week, Apple has invited select industry bigwigs and others who were close to Steve for a private memorial service set for tomorrow, October 16, at the Stanford University campus, reports the Wall Street Journal.
“Apple Inc. has invited some of Silicon Valley’s biggest names to a memorial service for Steve Jobs Sunday, Oct. 16, according to a copy of the invitation and several invitees.“
The memorial service will be held in the evening and the invitees are asked to reply to Jobs’s wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, through her charity organization Emerson Collective.
This will be followed by a celebration of Steve’s life and accomplishments for employees at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino on October 19.
Adobe has demoed a new feature for Photoshop at the company’s MAX 2011 event called Unblur which could end the problem of blurred photos forever. The demo invited gasps of amazement from a crowd that witnessed a blurred photo, retouched and perfected in a matter of seconds.
Advanced algorithms calculate the movements of the camera at the time the image was taken, enabling the user to ‘fix’ the image by unblurring it – saving what would ordinarily be a disappointing, dud image.
Adobe, at present, has no release date planned for the launch of this awesome new feature but once it does, it is sure to receive an immaculate response.
Microsoft’s new Metro-style Xbox 360 Dashboard 2011 Update, which was demoed earlier this year at E3, has been caught being browsed through in a leaked video (below) posted on YouTube by a user named ivazques71. In the video, the user goes through almost all of the next Xbox Dashboard’s menus to show us how it is shaping for release later this year.
Microsoft’s upgrade this year is based on Metro: a simple, clean and modern design language developed by the Redmond giant which is currently used in Windows Phone 7 and is slowly being introduced to other major products like Windows 8, Xbox 360 and the company’s suite of services under the Windows Live brand.
According to the video, the new Xbox Experience is expected to roll out on November 15th. But if past updates are anything to go by, it is due to come out some time this month itself. We have a keen eye on proceedings in Redmond.
So Apple is indeed launching the iPhone 5 (and also iPhone 4S?) in the first week of October, as had been previously rumored. The only change is that the date is not October 4 but instead October 5. All in a day’s work, eh?
Apple is also expected to launch iOS 5, iCloud, and redesigned iPod Touch and iPod Nano devices in the event. Let the countdown begin…
Samsung have confirmed they will be launching 3 new smartphones in India next month that will run on the latest version of their proprietary OS, Bada 2.0. The three new devices are identified to be the Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y which Samsung officially announced at the end of last month.
Samsung has been conducting most of the development work on Bada OS at the Samsung research and development facility in Bangalore, India which apparently is the company’s largest R&D facility outside Korea.
The company also mentioned that the Bada OS got a very good response in the Indian market and hence the new Bada 2.0 based smartphones will hit the country sometime in the month of October.
In this age of cut-throat competition, where companies like Apple and Google have already established themselves with their iOS and Android operating systems respectively, Bada 2.0 really has to be something special for Samsung to eat some market share out of the two giants’ pockets. But given the hardware quality Samsung has, if Bada 2.0 does make it big then Samsung can be a real threat to Apple, and especially Google, whose Android OS is found mostly on Samsung devices. Only time will tell how far they’ll go.
Do you reckon Samsung can pose a threat to Apple and/or Google?
According to a new report published today, Apple is all set to launch iPhone 5 and iOS 5 on October 5.
PocketGamer reports that an “inside source” has hinted them that Apple is planning to host a media event on October 5th to launch some new hardware, which will then subsequently release a week later on October 12th.
In the sort of hush-hush operation whereby we’d have to kill you etc etc, it seems that Apple is gearing up for a slightly earlier than previously expected iPhone 5 launch.
Our inside source says there will be a press conference announcing the new hardware on October 5th, with retail release occurring a week later.
The symbolism works well too: iPhone 5, iOS 5, October 5.
Various reports are strongly suggesting that there will be not one but two different variations of iPhones available, one pretty similar to the current iPhone 4 (iPhone 4S) and the other a totally different one (iPhone 5). The report also expects a new 3G-equipped iPod Touch to arrive with the iPhones.
While all this sounds good and exciting, we must not get carried away as previously too a report had suggested that Apple will hold an event on September 7 and launch the iPhone 5 and iOS 5. But nothing of the sort happened. And now, we have October 5 as the date when some new hardware from Cupertino arrives. But will we be disappointed this time too? Only time will tell.
While there is much speculation about how the next iPhone from Apple will be, there isn’t any clear cut evidence of either its form factor or of its features. In such a situation what do you expect? Of course you take cue from the available mockups/knockoffs like this one, or this one, or this one, or this one, or this one. OR, you can also take an imaginative or an artistic look at it. But any way you look at it, it surely won’t be anything like THIS:
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan have teamed up to develop a Sci-Fi game based on King Khan’s upcoming and eagerly anticipated movie Ra.One.
Ra.One is SRK’s upcoming science-fiction superhero film, due to release in October this year, and the actor and Sony have decided to treat their fans with a dedicated game, playable on Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 gaming consoles.
The game will be developed by a first-party team in the UK and will act as a prequel to the film to introduce key characters and the wide variety of super-powers that the main characters possess.
Here’s a part of the official press release:
SCEE designs RA.ONE PlayStation game
MUMBAI: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has tied up with the Shah Rukh
Khan film RA.ONE to create a PlayStation game on the film.
The video game version of the film named ‘RA.ONE – The Game’ has been developed exclusively on key PlayStation platforms of PS2 and PS3 (through PSN download) while the storyline has been developed by Shah Rukh Khan,
who has seen to it that that there is an intrinsic connection between the game and the film.
The game, being developed under the active supervision of the game development team of SCEE based out of London, will almost act as a prequel to the film to introduce the key film characters and the various super-powers the film has.
The game and movie both launch on the same day — 26th October, 2011 — and will be available on PS2, PS3, and as a download on PSN (PlayStation Network).
There’s a lot of ‘unhealthy’ talk going around about the Common Wealth Games, which is scheduled to take place between October 3 to October 15.
Many feel the fracas surrounding the games have put India in bad light, causing embarrassment to almost every Indian. Almost everyone feels the games are in shambles and that hosting the event was the biggest mistake India made. They feel it is impossible now for the games to be a success.
BUT, all this is said based ONLY on what the media has shown to the world. No, i’m not saying the games have been perfect. I’m just trying to make a point that its not as bad as it appears. To help justify my statement, and make most of the Indians proud again, i present to you the hidden truth of the CWG 2010 – something the media chose not to disclose for some reason. Have a look:
