Manchester United declared world’s most valuable team

With 11 Premier League titles, 11 FA Cups, 4 League Cups (Carling Cups), and 3 Champions League crowns already to their name, England’s most successful team, Manchester United, have been voted by Forbes as the most valuable team in the world. For the seventh year running.

Forbes ranked United on top of the pile for the seventh time in as many years, estimating its worth at 1.86 billion US dollars (£1.12 billion). Real Madrid came in second with £900 million and Arsenal third with £700 million.

Incidentally, the top 3 have all been the same during the last seven years!

German giants Bayern Munich jumped up to 4th in the list with the Catalans (Barcelona) dropping a place to 5th. AC Milan are the highest-placed Italian side on the list in sixth place, with Juventus in eighth and Inter Milan tenth.

Premier League sides Chelsea (£400 million) [seventh] and Liverpool (£332 million) [ninth] round up the top 10.

Beckham highest-paid player

England’s ex-Manchester United midfielder, David Beckham, continued to dominate the list of highest-paid players thanks to recent endorsement deals with Pepsi and Electronic Arts. His earnings last year were estimated at 40 million US dollars (£24 million).

Cristiano Ronaldo (£23 million) and Lionel Messi (£19 million) finished behind Becks at 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

The full lists will be published in Forbes magazine’s May 9 issue.
