Remember the crappiest version of Apple’s popular video editing software, the Final Cut Pro X? After being criticized on many fronts and even being mocked a lot, Apple had earlier decided to refund people unhappy with the software. Fast forward 3 months ahead and now Apple has given FCP X its first major update, and also a free 30-day trial in an attempt to win back lost users.
So, what’s new in the FCP X 10.0.1 that will re-attract the consumers? For starters, XML support has been added, allowing you to work on old projects which you previously couldn’t import in FCP X.
Among the biggest new feature to be added as part of a software update that will go out to users this morning is support for XML. This adds the option to both import and export projects in the XML format, meaning users can take XML formatted projects from Final Cut Pro 7 and other non linear editing software and work on them in Final Cut Pro X.
Apart from XML support, Apple says that multicam editing and broadcast-quality video monitoring – the two features absolutely indispensable in professional work – are coming “in early 2012″. Woot!
The product is now available to download for free as a 30-day trial, just to be on the safer side before you proceed with the $300 purchase of the full version. The trial version works for 30-days from the time it’s first launched.
