Turn your iPad into a foosball table with this interesting gadget

Yes, you read it right, now you can turn your iPad into a real foosball table! It is pretty cool to play foosball on your smartphone, but to play it on the iPad with a little foosball table, now that is a unique experience. People in New Potato Technologies are the one behind this interesting gadget which combines virtual applications and the real foosball table.

So, how does it work?

First things first, you have to meet some requirements before you can purchase this amazing foosball table, but don’t worry it is not complicated. The application which works on this stand is called the Classic Match Foosball, which is the name of the foosball table as well. You have to download the application to play on the table because this app is 100% compatible with the stand. Any other application might work, but not likely because the stand is made especially for this application. The application itself is FREE so I don’t see a problem with the download.

Now, let’s talk about the stand. There are two dimensions you can purchase because the first dimension is compatible with the iPad 1,2 and 3. The second stand, a newer model, is compatible with the iPad 3, 4 and iPad Air and Air 2.

Two sizes of foosball tables for iPad

Both of the tables look pretty much the same, except some minor design changes which don’t affect the game. With this foosball table, you will get 4 legs, 1 stand for the iPad, 8 rods and 2 scoring systems (one in red and one in blue). The table assembly is extremely simple; all you need to do is to attach the legs on the stand and insert the rods into 8 holes, just below the place where you put the iPad and you are done. On the bottom part of the table is 1 USB port, which means that you can plug the table and charge your iPad while you play the match. Forget about the empty battery notification during the most interesting part of the game.

When you assemble the stand for the iPads and place them on the stand, your iPad will look like the mini foosball table. On both longer sides of the iPad are 4 rods used to control the players in the game. On both shorter sides of the iPads are scoring systems so you will have to move the bean when you score – just like on the real foosball table.

The Classic Match Foosball application

The foosball application is really good. I like the fact that the rods and the players in the app move the same second so you really have a feeling like you are on the real table. Rods are extra sensitive so they register every move you make, no matter how small it is. Unfortunately, the rods in the reality and the rods in the game aren’t in line, they are moved a little bit, but that is something you can get used to after 3-4 matches.

This gadget is one excellent product which will keep you entertained for hours and I think it can be the perfect gift for every fooser on the planet.

Review: MemoryKeeper for Mac

MemoryKeeper is a free app available on the Mac app store and I thought of trying it out. MemoryKeeper was listed in the “Whats Hot” category of the app store.

I downloaded the application and it look just a few seconds for it to download and install.(just 35MB).

Memory Keeper free’s up your RAM. Even after shutting down a heavy application the mac still uses memory. MemoryKeeper just cleans up this memory to make your Mac run faster.

I ran the application for the first time and a screen popped up saying “Clean Memory”.

Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 5.10.29 PM

I clicked on Clean Memory and it look about 10 seconds for the app to clean memory and then it showed me a screen with the amount of memory(RAM) cleaned.

However to be frank I did not find any difference in the working speed of my Mac. Maybe  I should try it again sometime when my Mac is behaving sluggish.

Also there is an option to turn on automatic cleanup so you don’t need to go and clean up manually.

However I did not understand one thing. I tried cleaning up my memory back to back without opening any application or doing anything else and to my surprise every time the app showed a different amount of MB’s it had cleaned.

I did not understand that if once my memory is clean then without doing anything how can it be used up again.

Even if there is some basic usage that happens( assuming some processes go on in the background in the OS ) then the amount of clean up should have been the same and not different each time.

After the cleanup I checked my RAM usage in the Activity Monitor and the MemoryKeeper. Both showed same numbers.

Conclusion: You can download the app as its free and run it sometime when you feel your Mac is acting sluggish. Automatic cleanup is not required.

Flipkart Launches Android app, iOS App expected by the end of the Year

India’s amazon, Flipkart, is moving yet another step ahead in helping people buy online. Flipkart now has a dedicated Android Application which lets you browse through items available on flipkart and order the ones you want to right from your smartphone.

Upon asking Flipkart about an iOS app, Flipkart replied via twitter saying that an iOS app would be(should be) available by the end of the year.

@amilwani We’re gunning for end of year… looking promising.

— Flipkart (@Flipkart) September 20, 2013

From the very beginning Flipkart has been the best when it comes to online shopping. My personal experiences with Flipkart have also been amazing. The timely delivery, packaging, and authenticity is what makes Flipkart thrive.

E-commerce websites are coming up in hundreds but Flipkart has managed to maintain its position well in the Indian market even though its music service was big flop and finally Flipkart shut it( Bye Bye Flyte).

Flipkart also seems to have revamped its desktop website. The website now looks much more cleaner and has the navigation at the top instead of left.

Download the Flipkart android app here.

HELP! Can not find default messaging app in my android phone.

One of our readers had a problem with her android phone and asked us out to help her.

The problem was : She could not find her default messaging app in her Samsung Galaxy phone. We thought many of our other readers might also face the same problem in future and therefore we decided to address this issue publicly by writing a blog post.

The solution to this is simple. Just go to application manager -> all apps and scroll down entirely.

Sometimes due to some reason the application gets automatically disabled. It generally happens when you download a application similar to the default app.

Hope the post helped you.

Apple announce name of person who downloaded 25 billionth app: Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China

Over two days ago Apple officially announced that its near-four year old App Store had reached a mammoth 25 billion downloads. Prior to that Apple had announced the person to download the 25 billionth app would receive a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card and since the time the milestone app was downloaded we were waiting for Apple to reveal to lucky name who won the prize. Today, they have announced that the winner of the gift card is Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China. Fu downloaded Disney’s water-based physics-puzzler “Where’s My Water? Free” to win himself the $10,000-worth prize. Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddie Cue said the following:

We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded. When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.

Spotted: MS Office for iPad [Exclusive Pic]

Exactly two years and a week ago we speculated whether or not Apple’s iPad will get Microsoft’s popular Office suite or no. Today, we can gleefully answer – yes.

Rupert Murdoch’s tablet-only magazine The Daily featured a glimpse of Microsoft’s Office app for iPad, still lacking some finishing touches as yet, indicating a release in the near future is imminent. Buzz is also that work on the Android app is nearing completion too and it won’t be long after the submission to the App Store that MS Office will enter the Android world. From The Daily:

The app’s user interface is similar to the current OneNote app, but it has hints of Metro, the new design language that can be seen in Windows Phone and in the as-yet-released Windows 8 desktop operating system. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be created and edited locally and online.

When Office for iPad finally arrives, it will compete with the likes of Documents to Go, Quickoffice and Apple’s own Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps, which at $9.99 each might meet some good competition from their age-old rivals from Redmond.

Apple reinvents textbooks with iBooks 2

As expected, Apple’s “education announcement” in today’s event gave us – and certainly several students – something to cheer about with the introduction of a new category in the iBookstore called “textbooks”. And this, in fact, is iBooks 2!

With iBooks 2 you can display books with videos as well as other interactive content, though the real intention of the Cupertino-based company is not yet clear considering only a few students own iPads. And this, to be very frank, isn’t incentive enough to purchase one.

Apart from iBooks 2, Apple has also launched a new app on the Mac App Store called iBooks Author — an app that allows people to create their own electronic textbooks on their Mac.

To kickstart their latest educational expedition, Apple has launched two high school textbooks — Biology and Environmental Science — one from Pearson PLC and five from McGraw-Hill. They will cost $15 or less, said Phil Schiller, Apple’s head of marketing.

Buying one of the new Nokia Windows Phone devices? Hold on.

Are you considering buying one of the new Nokia Windows Phone devices in the very near future? Well, holding off for now would be a better idea and you might just land yourself Nokia’s Mix Radio app for free.

One of the best Nokia apps yet is slow to come onto US markets. It will arrive with the new Nokia Lumina 800, to be introduced to US markets in early 2012. European customers who already have the new Windows platform phone are very enthusiastic about the new Nokia Music app that comes free with the new smart phone. If you love music you may want to hold off on purchasing that new phone.

The Nokia Music app features a player, of course, and works with Zune to play your favorite tunes but it also comes with Mix Radio which will stream music from prerecorded radio stations featuring over 15 million tracks of music in most genres. If you like what you’re hearing then you can tap the phone and save the song on your Lumia for playing offline. You can also buy music downloads in MP3s.

The Lumina 800 also has a feature similar to Pandora that allows you tell Mix Radio who your favorite bands are and it will create customized play lists for you. Mix Radio uses Eagles Nest Taste profiling to serve up your personalized music. You can also skip, rate or love songs.

Mix Radio is simple to use, just tap the home screen and music starts playing, no subscription, no paying downloading fees. It comes standard on the Lumina 800, no installation needed. (Mix Radio is also available on Lumina 710 phones.) It also has GIG- which will actually tell you when your favorite bands are playing in the area.

Nokia is promising that the Lumina 800 US version, which may be called Tango, will have very aggressive pricing and many insiders are speculating the price of the new Windows phone will be close to $200, making it affordable for most consumers. But unfortunately we’ll have to wait until 2012 to find out.

The Lumina 800 has a slim design, fits well in the pocket and hand, comes in 3 colors, and does all the things a smart phone is supposed to do as well as play music. It’s rated as the fastest Windows phone on the market by most reviewers and of course being a Nokia phone it goes a long way between charges. If grandpa has resisted getting a smart phone you can tell him it’s like having a transistor radio in the pocket that knows what music you like and lets you make phone calls too.

The Lumina 800 is flying off the shelves in Europe. The US version will have a larger screen, a slightly different processor and an 8 megapixel camera. The Mix Radio app is one of the apps that distinguish Nokia’s Windows phones from similar smart phones and it isn’t available as a stand alone app. I believe that once you see a friend’s Lumina 800 or Tango in use you’ll want one too, especially if you’re a music lover. That’s one of the reasons you may want to wait until after the holidays to purchase a new phone.
