How Augmented Reality is Transforming the Workplace

With the pivot by Google Glass from its current product to focusing on developing Project Aura instead, it has become clear that augmented reality technology for enterprises is the new focus. And Google isn’t the only company making this change.

Of the companies making a name for themselves in the AR industry, some are developing products designed to work with pre-existing technologies (e.g. iPads), while others are designing completely new augmented reality hardware. For example, Microsoft’s HoloLens employs its own uniquely designed headset for the ultimate AR experience.

Improving the Workplace with Augmented Reality

Leveraging AR technology to improve overall efficiency, safety, and communication in a work environment is becoming an increasingly popular notion. Part of the reason it’s gaining such traction is the varied applications for AR in the workplace. From employee onboarding to optimized presentations, this technology can apply to almost every occupational circumstance.

For example, Training Room Online and Fuzzy Logic recently combined forces to provide an augmented reality solution to large financial institutions and their employee onboarding process. Through AR that employed gamification, the final product was able to deliver an engaging yet educational experience to new employees.

When it comes to applying AI to business presentations, software like Haiku Deck Zuru is making the experience more effective and engaging. By pulling key messaging from slides and dynamically editing them, the overall effect is the most informational and essential presentation appearing before the audience.

The potential AR offers for making everyday business functions more effective and streamlined is a major reason that augmented reality for enterprises is becoming the focus of this technology’s development.

Tips for Introducing AR to Enterprises

If you’re an augmented reality developer looking to enter the enterprise market, there are a few things to keep in mind. Given that this technology is so new, the targets of your business and your pitch will be different than any other type of SaaS sales.

Consider where AR can most effectively be applied within the enterprise system. As the company offering AR as a solution, you should be able to offer insight into where the technology would have the greatest impact. There’s rarely an industry that wouldn’t benefit from augmented reality.

Let clients know what hardware best suits their purposes. If the company you’re pitching AR to deals in highly physical or dangerous environments, you’ll need to suggest a more durable option than HoloLens. Furthermore, it will be important to distinguish if they require their own hardware or if they should access the technology from their smartphone or other pre-existing device.

Find the enterprises that are open to innovation. Augmented reality technology offers a solution to businesses who are searching for ways to boost efficiency in their physical production processes by expanding into the digital realm. Those that are suffering the most will have the most incentive to invest in a new technology like AR, considering its seemingly limitless potential.  For example, a food corporation with a farm will likely have great interest in a technological solution that optimizes their harvest yield.

Gather all the data you need for integrating AR into an enterprise. This technology thrives when it has the most data possible to work off from. Consider if the company will need to implement real-time sensors or work off of other contextual information.

Between the AR technologies that are designed for current hardware and others that are being developed in conjunction with unique devices, the applications for AR in the workplace are vast. Enterprises can best take advantage of the ROI-maximizing potential of this technology by investigating their options with AR developers and agencies. Applying digital solutions to the office space offers far too many advantages to ignore.

Understanding Social Media Management for Your Small Business

Social media has become an integral part of business as we know it. Many companies even hire a Social Media Coordinator, Community Manager or Content Strategist full-time to oversee their accounts across various online platforms. If you’re just getting your feet wet in the world of social media, you may not be ready to hire someone exclusively to handle your online communications. However, having a presence online and creating relationships with your customers is important in today’s business management. Here is some information on understanding social media management for your small business. Hopefully, after reading, you will feel more confident in undertaking your own social media campaigns.

The Importance of Social Media

The days of one-way communication in which companies communicated to customers through advertising on television, radio or newspaper are gone. Today’s businesses must engage in two-way dialogue with their client base, ready to hear both positive and negative feedback, and to be prepared to act on that information. Social media allows your to connect with your potential customers in a whole new way, as well as to track that communication and to determine the return on investment of your outreach efforts. Being able to communicate with customers directly can give you a great deal of insight, as well as create a loyal following, unlike static media.

Assess Your Audience

In order to run successful social media campaigns, you need to first have a good idea of who your customer is and what they’re looking for. Market research will allow you to learn about your client base and their demographic. Find out what they like about your product or service, what they dislike. Determine which social media outlets they use most so that you know where to concentrate your efforts. In identifying your consumer type, you will begin to better identify your company’s own brand.

Follow the Hashtag

In order to find what people are saying about your industry, you want to be able to search for key words on social media. Hashtags make it easy to do just that. A hashtag is a word or phrase attached to the pound sign. Hashtags allow users to follow certain conversations or to find information on a certain topic. for example, if you own a pizza parlor, you could look for the hashtag #pizza or #pizzaplace to see what people are saying about the topic of pizza. Using hashtags allows you to keep track of your own company’s branding campaigns, as well as those of your competitors. There are numerous benefits of the hashtag.

Post Regularly and Strategically

When posting to social media, it’s crucial that you write updates about the things your customers care about and are interested in, rather than focusing on your own interests. The whole goal of social media is to connect with the people who will buy your product or use your service. It’s also important that you respond quickly to anyone who engages with you, whether positively or negatively. In addition, post regular updates so that your followers keep you in mind. Posting frequency varies by industry and social network, as this article from points out.

These are merely some basics regarding social media for your small business. What’s important is that you get started, connect with your customers and find what works for you.

6 Tips to Promote Your eCommerce Site in 2015

Building a successful eCommerce store in 2015 requires more than a simple virtual shop with high-quality products and services. Having a knack for marketing your eCommerce store is imperative whether you are new to the online world or simply looking to stand out among competitors in your niche. Knowing how to promote your eCommerce site in 2015 is not only a way to stay ahead financially but it can also provide you the path to the next level of success business-wise.

Use a Popular CMS

Using a popular CMS, or content management system is a way to ensure your website is optimized for search engines immediately upon publishing new information and content to the blog or site itself. Some of the most popular CMS today include WordPress, Drupal and Joomla, which are all free to use for individuals and online business owners. Integrating eCommerce with a CMS is one of the quickest methods of getting your eCommerce site up and running properly within hours.

Implement Social Media

Implementing social media is one of the most effective methods of making a name for yourself in eCommerce in 2015. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr are all ideal platforms to share graphics, infographics and other information related to the products and services you have to offer. In addition to helping to increase visibility online, social media is also ideal to help in building page ranking. The higher your page is ranked within well-known search engines, the easier it becomes to generate organic search engine traffic from others online.

Integrating SEO Properly

Integrating SEO properly is a major factor in properly running a successful eCommerce store online in 2015. Ensuring your website is fully optimized for search engines in addition to mobile phones and apps is a way to reach thousands of users simultaneously with less effort.

Update Consistently

Updating consistently with new products and services also helps to appeal to those who are genuinely interested in your product or brand. Taking the time to update your consumers and online followers is also a way to maintain relevance in the online and social community world.

Digital Marketing Today May Be Light Years Ahead of Your Website

A great website is essential for digital marketing, but that’s just the beginning. Your brand needs to reach the right demographic in all digital media including mobile devices, social media and across the Internet. Strategies cut across mediums to give customers a look at the product from different angles. For example, a marketing campaign can appear in text messages, on digital billboards, banner ads on websites and well as store-front campaigns. This approach creates a spectacular event that has far greater impact on the public than an ad in the newspaper.

What to Expect

Whether you have a start-up brand or have been around for a while, your business can benefit from the power of focused digital marketing. A professional digital marketing company will analyze your industry, including your competition as well as key trends to create strategies that will transform your business. This goes way beyond what you can do for yourself.

You’ll be able to communicate with your customers and potential customers directly with polls, surveys and social media platforms. You may have an attractive website that is easy to navigate, but you could have so much more with a combination of the latest technology and innovative design. Most people will probably view your site on their phone. Do you have the website design, mobile applications and advertising campaigns to give your viewers easy access to your product?

Where to Begin

You may have eight seconds to capture your online audience. You can greatly expand that with a comprehensive digital marketing solution. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to digital marketing. Each platform has different value for each business. A professional digital marketer can customize the campaign for your product or service on each media outlet. Rather than feeling bombarded with ads, people should feel the pull to become engaged with your campaign. This is where the benefit of a professional is invaluable. You don’t have the time, resources or knowledge to do this yourself. You message can be modified for the major demographic of any media. For example:

  • Public Relations
  • Social Media
  • Email
  • Advertising campaigns
  • Marketing materials
  • Contests, surveys, polls and promotions

Why Do You Need Digital Marketing?

You may think your website is enough digital presence, after all, your business is doing well. However, a comprehensive, integrated digital marketing strategy can take your business to levels you may not have believed possible just five years ago. You could have an attractive, interactive presence online, on TV and radio and in print that captures the attention of viewers and greatly expands the eight seconds you may otherwise get.

A good digital marketing company will help you push your business to the next level and beyond. They’ll analyze your business model and develop strategies for every media outlet. Many small business owners aren’t even aware of the possibilities. You focus on what you do best and let professionals deliver the solutions that drive results.

4 Advantages of Creating Local Business Listings

Online marketing can seem like an ocean of opportunity for business owners who haven’t ventured out to explore their advertising options. However, it is possible to cast too wide of a net while creating content strategies and marketing campaigns. While the Internet is full of audiences, only some of these are potential customers. Don’t waste your marketing efforts on audiences that fall outside of your target demographics. Here are four reasons why local business listing can help your retail locations thrive.

Targeting Local Demographics

Local listing services help you reach customers who are actually using their devices in your vicinity. This can dramatically reduce the cost of advertising, since your business information is only displayed to select audiences. Most local advertising and listing services give you extensive control over who sees your business information, so that you can further define demographics for multiple locations.

Location-Specific Deals

Some online listing services give you the ability to add local deals for residents and visitors to a particular area. Services like Yelp will  only display these promotions if someone is physically located near your establishment and checking in. You can deploy location-specific deals for each of your retail locations, so that your visitors have something to look forward to as they explore your store locations.

Increased Brand Visibility

Localized business listings online can increase the amount of exposure your business gets with new audiences. For example, a family moving to a nearby neighborhood might discover your listing as they do a quick online search for businesses in the area. Or your information might appear on a mapping service, informing visitors who are just driving through. These appearances might seem small, but they can go a long way in exposing new, prospective customers to your brand name and location.

Increased Store Traffic

The more information you have tied to your business listing, the better. Your menu, product offerings, parking details, and hours of business are all extremely useful details to include on your business listing. This helps direct customers who have very specific schedules and needs. Make sure that these details remain updated as your company grows and changes.

Localized online business listings can be tied to a number of services, such as mapping apps or coupon apps, providing your company with ample opportunity for exposure. Leverage these tools and see what kind of impact it has on your foot traffic, weekly sales, and brand visibility.

Game On! Google’s “New” Geography Game

The first day in July 2014, Google introduced what’s being called a “new” geography game and it has Google fans and office workers desperate to kill time all in a tizzy. Basically, you’re asked questions based on places, and you have to put a virtual pin into the map where said event took place. Guess correctly and you’ll rack up miles (not points), but these miles can’t actually be renewed for flights of course. However, it really gets interesting when you guess wrong.

If you guess Portland, Ore. and the actual answer is Salem, Ore. then Google figures out how many miles are between the destinations (it’s 60). Those 60 miles, or whatever they may be, are then deducted from your total miles. It’s already addicting and thankfully giving Angry Birds gamers something different to work at. Even though the miles don’t really mean anything, something about watching the number grow and shrink makes you want to seriously brush up on your geography.

Smart gaming

Google doesn’t expect you to be an expert on the Geography of Kenya, Iceland or even Georgia if you’re not from there. That’s why it’s “smart gaming” and Google figures out which region you’ll likely know best based on past searches. For example, when you were Google mapping the route from the hotel to the wharf in San Francisco, Google saw that and might quiz you on other SFO-are geography facts. Also, there’s somewhat of a multiple choice element.

It seems like everything from our childhood from coloring in maps to sheet music has gone virtual these days. It’s a good thing for office workers who are looking for stimulating yet not too maddening of a distraction at work. Taking a guess is fairly safe, since Google will point you to the general region that a question is based on so you can take an educated stab at it.

Your new favorite time suck

Smarty Pins isn’t just a way to kill time until punching out, it can also be an excellent tool to help learn about geography no matter what your age. However, some critics are saying that (coming from Google) it isn’t the most innovative tool. It’s more like a promotional ploy for an app according to some, even though Maps made the grand entrance a decade ago.

Is this a Google fail or beautiful in it’s simplicity? There’s only one way to find out: Try it out for yourself.

4 Benefits of Owning a Website that is Optimized for Mobile Use

If your company webpage isn’t optimized for mobile screens, then you could be missing out on a significant amount of web traffic and conversions. It’s no secret that consumers are turning to their smartphones and tablets increasingly to make purchases and order services. Your audiences could be missing out on your important resources and products if your website isn’t mobile-friendly Take a look at these four main benefits to having a mobile website.

Nielson published the results of a mobile shopping survey in August 2013, and the results reveal some interesting consumer habits. The data reveals that 72% of smartphone shoppers and 80% of tablet shoppers make their purchases while at home. Consumers don’t have to deal with the hassle of driving to a shopping mall and interrupting their day to visit brick and mortar stores. The extreme convenience of ordering online has lead to the immense popularity of services like Amazon Prime. If you want to tap into a mobile consumer base, then your website must be easy to access from smartphones and tablets.

Content Clarity

Content that is not optimized for mobile devices might fail to load or lose its formatting on smartphones and tablets. This could be disastrous for companies that rely on their web presence for publicity, sales, and customer relations. For example, if your product listings are presented with Flash-based content, then many mobile users will be unable to load your website. Your company’s content should be easy to view from any computer or mobile device.

Touch Navigation

Websites with mobile optimization are easier to navigate. Image galleries respond to users’ touch and swipe gestures, so that they don’t have to search for a tiny “Next” button to see new pictures. Menu items on mobile websites are often large and easy to read, so that users can quickly tap through page directories.

Customer Satisfaction

A well-crafted mobile website can significantly improve your customers’ experiences. Shoppers could potentially turn away from your online storefront if the page is too unwieldy for their mobile devices. Mobile sites that are easy to access, navigate, and read are likely to increase your overall conversion rates.

Not too big, not too small: Does the screen size really matter?

The Google and LG bond just got stronger. Google is known for its classy Nexus series which are a class apart from all the other Android devices out there. What makes Nexus series devices an eye-catcher is its stock Android experience that Google provides. Nexus lineup is not something like Galaxy series of Samsung which has a new tablet or smartphone almost every quarter but again it is Google’s prodigy so there is hardly anything else that matters.

It is at this point that the new LG G Pad GPe (Google Play edition) that comes into picture. It is a cut between a phablet which has screen size of around 7’’ and a full size tablet having screen sizes starting from 10’’. The 8.3’’ screen LG G-Pad would be loved by the Android fans who just feel Nexus 7 a bit too small and a full size 10’’ tablet a bit too cumbersome to handle. Moreover with a resolution of 1920X1020 and 273 PPI, G-Pad just makes the tablet experience a lovable one. However the if one compares the display of G-Pad with that of flagship Nexus 7 tablet then the colors on G-Pad are slightly muted.

On the software side, LG G-Pad has a straight up KitKat experience which will be appreciated by the users who love and crave for the stock Android feeling in their devices. The stock Android is also better than customized OS because it gets you the immediate OS updates as soon as Google releases it. LG G-Pad already proved this point when the device started getting Android 4.4.2 update on 14th December, just 5 days after it reached out to Nexus devices.

The Snapdragon 600 processor gives 1.7GHz of speed. Along with this G-Pad comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory along with a microSD card slot which can expand your G-Pad’s memory to 64GB. The 4,600 mAh battery doesn’t disappoint either and lasts for 13-14 hours with normal usage which gets charged fully in approximately 2 hours’ time. 5MP primary and 1.3MP secondary camera will give you great photos and good video call quality while using Hangouts or Skype.

In a nutshell, LG G-Pad is a nice mid-range size tablet which comes with stock Android OS giving you almost immediate OS updates. With few muted color tones on the screen and bit of scrolling woes might force one to put it down. But if you think Nexus 7 is too small and Nexus 10 is too big and aging then G-Pad will be an experience which you will appreciate.
