An allegedly "reliable source at Foxconn in China" is said to have revealed the million dollar secret Apple fans all over have been speculating about -- the next iPhone is getting ready to hit production and will mostly likely be ready for Apple's WWDC event this summer.
The news comes from 9to5mac, who believe in the credibility of this information, and add that the source told them that "various sample devices are also floating around (they vary slightly from one another), so it is impossible to tell which one will be the final" iPhone model. Among those being tried are:
- iPhone with same dimensions as we're used to (3.5 inch screen)
- iPhone with a slightly bigger 3.7 inch screen
- iPhone with a large 4 inch display
- iPhone with a mammoth 4.3 - 5 inch display
There are, however, some similarities between the dummy models floating around, giving a slight hint where Apple's vision lies:
- 4+ inch display (made by LG on at least one of them).
- No teardrop-shaped devices, as rumored in the lead up to the iPhone 4S. Samples so far have been symmetrical in thickness (also longer/wider).
- Neither of the sample devices have the iPhone 4/4S form factor.
- Neither of the devices are the final versions.
While the folks at 9to5mac claim the information comes from a reliable source and is trustworthy, we should not read much into it as we've already told you before why Apple won't make an iPhone larger than its current offering. The WWDC launch, however, seems much easier to believe.
P.S. Has Steve Jobs already left his mark in the yet-to-be-announced iPhone?
