We aren’t too far away now from this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, better known as CES, and we already have some ‘sleek’ news coming in. Toshiba has announced what is expected to be the world’s thinnest and slimmest 10 inch tablet, called the Excite X10. Measuring at just 7.7mm thickness, the X10 leaves market leader iPad (8.8mm) and closest competitor Transformer Prime (8.3mm) far behind to bite the dust as we gear up for an Excite-ing show in Las Vegas this year (as always).
Apart from being slimmer than the slimmest, the Toshiba Excite X10 has quite a beefed up interior for being just 1.2 pounds, being powered by a 1.2 Ghz dual-core OMAP 4430 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB/32 GB internal memory, DLNA capability, Wi-Fi 801.11 b/g/n, 3.5 mm headset jack, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, Micro-HDMI, Micro-USB 2.0, microSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory and Toshiba’s SRS sound enhancement technology.
On the outside, the X10 features a 10.1 inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, a 5 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and will run on Google’s Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS which will soon be eligible for an upgrade to Android 4.0 OS in the near future, the company promised.
The price of the device has also been announced, though i still can’t figure out the logic behind it: While the 16 GB version of Toshiba Excite X10 will retail for $530, you can easily get the 32 GB version for $600. Sensible? Who cares..
