Remember, developer Steven Troughton-Smith in association with 9to5mac was trying to port the iPhone 4S' most attractive addition, Siri to the iPhone 4? He has now successfully completed the port, details of which are below.
A couple of weeks after the iPhone 4S' launch, Steven Troughton-Smith got to work, trying to get Apple's now-hugely-popular automated voice control system, Siri to the iPhone 4. He managed to successfully port the Siri user-interface and some of the underlying code from the iPhone 4S onto the iPhone 4, but the job wasn't complete as communication to the Apple servers from an iPhone 4 could not established. A little over two weeks later and Troughton-Smith, who followed up with Chpwn for the same, has got the server fully working on an iPhone 4 and also on an iPod touch.
Here's the iPod Touch Siri port:
9to5mac's Mark Gurman also had the opportunity to interview Troughton-Smith, details of which can be found on 9to5mac itself.
It is so exciting to see technology advance so smoothly. More and more developers are now accomplishing tasks which they previously even feared to try. With Siri making its way to the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch, it won't be too long before Siri is ported to the iPad 2 as well.
