England duo Owen Hargreaves and Jonathan Woodgate were handed contrasting news as BPL clubs provided their squad lists.
On Wednesday, clubs had to submit a 25-man squad list for the first half of the season which put the immediate playing future of the injury prone pair under the miscroscope.
Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves has made a solitary substitute appearance in the last two years as he battles tendinitis and there had been serious doubts over his inclusion.
However, United have confirmed that all of their senior players, apart from those out on loan, have been registered to play.
Tottenham defender Woodgate, meanwhile, was less fortunate.
Manager Harry Redknapp decided to omit the injury-plagued defender, who he recently revealed was fighting to save his career due to a groin problem. Woodgate made only three appearances last season and has not played at all since November.
Specialist surgery in both America and Australia proved unsuccessful and Redknapp believes the player is in danger of having to retire.
Also omitted from the Spurs squad submitted to the Premier League today was goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, with new loan signing Stipe Pletikosa now providing back-up to Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini.
Stoke left out striker Mamady Sidibe, who is out for the season with a snapped Achilles tendon.
