The maker of many of Apple's displays, including the iPhone 4 Retina Display, is not too bothered about Apple any more, and rather is looking forward to competing with them by attacking their "Magical and Revolutionary" product, the iPad.

LG Electronics Inc., a late entrant into the smartphones market, revealed its plans to launch 10 new smartphones, along with a tablet computer globally by the year-end.

Our point of interest, though, is the tablet computer which Chang Ma, vice president of marketing for LG's mobile-devices unit (and an ex-Apple employee) has his eyes on.

WSJ with the goods:

The first LG tablet, which will run on Google Inc.'s Android software, will set itself apart from Apple Inc.'s iPad by focusing on the ability to create content, rather than simply display it.

The tablet will include content focused on creation such as writing documents, editing video and creating programs. It will also have "high-end features and new benefits," many of which will focus on productivity - confirmed Mr Chang Ma, who claims that though the iPad is a great device, it is not much useful to him (he doesn't do much work on it).

He even went on to add that "It's going to be surprisingly productive. Our tablet will be better than the iPad."

With many iPad competitors rising from the dead recently, we wonder will anyone be able to beat Apple's magic? Being the first one to start the trend, not to mention the hype and publicity it manages to create (one should really leak news the Apple way), Apple really are way ahead in this race for the ultimate tablet computer.

Anyway, here are few competitors worth mentioning (apart from the one mentioned above):
