This could come as a relief to all those of you who own an iPhone and are very happy with it, but not with it's service provider - AT&T. And this good news could be announced sooner than you would have expected (not that anyone's complaining).

Apple's high flying iPhone will make its way on to other cell phone networks as early as this fall, with T-Mobile USA looking most likely to be the first one to be honored.

Shaw Wu, a Kaufman Bros. analyst, informed investors that AT&T could soon lose its 'exclusive iPhone carrier' tag as early as the first half of 2011.

Now these can be rumors too. There have been many over the years. But i'd still like to believe this news as AT&T is not at all popular among its clients and many iPhone users are willing to change their service provider the moment they are offered another one. And T-Mobile also looks the most likely candidate to get the breakthrough as it's wireless technology is similar to that of AT&T's. And the fact that both Sprint and Verizon Wireless use a different wireless standard just makes you want to believe this one.

Sprint and Verizon Wireless use a different wireless standard, so converting the iPhone to run on their networks would presumably involve more technical hurdles.
