Off to a long journey to another country? Ah no worries, the iPad will help pass the time sweetly....What? Don't own an iPad? Now what? Hmm...how about lending one from the airlines itself?
Yes, you read the right! Quantas subsidiary Jetstar has announced it is launching a trial iPad rental service on its planes.
The trial, which begins later this month, will see the airline rent Apple's magical and revolutionary product - preloaded with books, films, TV shows, music and games for your in-flight fun - for $10.
"We are really excited to commence trialing the iPads, as we're always looking for ways to enhance our customer's Jetstar experience. Given the demand for the iPad so far, I anticipate it will have strong appeal amongst our passengers," said Jetstar CEO Bruce Buchanan. “Based on demand for the iPads as part of the trial, we’ll be looking to roll out the devices across our entire domestic and international network later in the year.”
Jetstar will take help from British company Bluebox Avionics and Stellar Inflight to implement the trial to develop custom software for the iPad.
The company even says that the system will allow for the iPad to be used during take-off and landing - something which other electronics are not allowed (they have to be switched off).
