For all of you who couldn't access Facebook Chat, we present to you another shocking blunder committed by Facebook which could have affected you badly.

TechCrunch reports that "there is a major security flaw" with Facebook which lets your friends take control of your profile. They would get full control of your profile and could do any thing like see your notifications, see friends' requests pending, etc. In short, they would get access to all your sensitive information without your permission.

To fix this, Facebook had disabled the 'Chat' feature on it's site and released the following statement via TechCrunch:

“For a limited period of time, a bug permitted some users’ chat messages and pending friend requests to be made visible to their friends by manipulating the “preview my profile” feature of Facebook privacy settings. When we received reports of the problem, our engineers promptly diagnosed it and temporarily disabled the chat function. We also pushed out a fix to take care of the visible friend requests which is now complete. Chat will be turned back on across the site shortly. We worked quickly to resolve this matter, ensuring that once the bug was reported to us, a solution was quickly found and implemented.”

Facebook Chat is back again for now but such lapses from the social networking giant will surely not go down well with it's users.
