Spice intros S1200: Great Camera, Cheap Price

Spice Mobile has launched a new phone - the S-1200, which boasts of a 12.2-Megapixel camera among other interesting features.

So far, the only phones we have seen with a 12-megapixel camera were the Samsung W880 and the Sony Ericsson Satio. Both handsets are a bit expensive, though, so when Spice Mobiles launched a 12-megapixel phone for under Rs. 15,000, we sat up and took notice.

Camera phones have improved a lot over time, yet, one feature they lacked was optical zoom. But now, Spice Mobile's S-1200 has joined the depleted list of mobile phones that can boast about optical zoom as the handset is capable of 3X optical zoom and 9x digital zoom.

With the S-1200, the company has found their new premier camera phone as it's 12.2-megapixel camera with pro CCD sensor enables one to print photos in poster sizes of 18×24 inches!

The device also comes with auto-focus and image stabilization to make sure your pictures are blur-free, and has multiple face detection along with a smile shutter. The best part, though, is that Spice has managed to include a powerful Xenon Flash so that low-light environments and night-time photographs appear perfectly clear. And it also doesn't disappoint when it comes to video recording as it supports recording QVGA resolution video at 30 fps.

Another great add-on to this handset is that it has a TV-out port, so that when you hook up your camera-phone to your TV, you can view the pictures on a large screen directly!

Other features include a 2.4-inch screen displaying 256K colours, pre-loaded World Clock, Alarm, Calculator, Currency Convertor, Calendar, Voice Memo, Caller Group, FM radio with recording, Bluetooth with A2DP. It boasts of a battery that can be used up to 3 hours continuously and a mini-USB port.
