Sony Ericsson has launched five new phones: Vivaz and Vivaz Pro Symbian phones and Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro Android phones in the Indian market. In the first of the two parts, we'll take a look at the Android phones. So lets cut the crap and get straight into the action!

Xperia X10 – The complete package

The Xperia X10 is the signature handset in a family of phones to deliver a consistent user experience where communication is fun and easy. Powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, it has a large 4-inch screen, 8.1-megapixel camera and 1GB of onboard storage, apart from several other interesting features.

Key Features

  • Phone memory 1GB, SanDisk microSD™ up to 16GB, 8GB included
  • 8.1 Megapixel Camera
  • Digital Zoom - up to 16x
  • Auto focus
  • Face recognition
  • Image stabiliser
  • Flash / light type - Photo light
  • Send to web

Its new UX platform and applications like Mediascape and Timescape lets users organize anything and everything in their phone in an intuitive way. While the Sony Ericsson Timescape brings all communication together in one place so users can see at a glance text messages, missed calls, and Facebook and Twitter updates, Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube, PlayNow – and presents everything to you in a easy-to-use way.

If you are a photography freak, then Xperia X10’s intelligent face recognition is dedicated to you! With the capacity to recognize up to five faces in any picture, you can automatically connect photos of your loved ones with your social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.

Great things come in ‘mini’ packages – X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro

The Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro with slide out QWERTY keyboard and 2.55-inch touchscreens are compact versions of the Xperia X10, and are based on the human curvature design philosophy. The two sister mobile phones incorporate Timescape to manage all communication with one person in one place without having to open lots of different applications.

To get groovy with your favourite music, let the “infinite button” on the interactive music player pull together all music content from the music store and YouTube! It’s also a smart way to search for new tracks from a favourite artist.
