Since March 12, IPL has been talked about every where. Be it predictions, news of new teams joining or YouTube being the official broadcaster of the T20 extravaganza online.
As IPL fever soars, we thought it would be a good idea to list the best online resources to enhance your IPL experience.
Watching the Match
The best source to get your IPL matches online, of course, is the official live streaming channel from YouTube. Users should note that you’ll require an Internet connect with a minimum bandwidth of 512kbps to be able to view the content without it buffering every few minutes.
Negative: You will be about 5 minutes behind the coverage of Set Max
Positive: YouTube also has a repository of all the older matches that you can view for free at any time. So in case you missed a game, you can now catch up with the action the next day or on the weekend!
If you are watching the match using Google Chrome, we also recommend you install the Cinematographia extension. This is similar to the Turn Off The Lights extension, which basically makes the entire YouTube page apart from the video fade to black, thus highlighting the video. However, Turn Off The Lights doesn’t work too well with Youtube IPL as it seems to think that the official Twitter/comments box at the bottom is the video, and thus highlights the comments while the video is faded to black.
Cinematographia allows the opportunity to customize the space it will highlight. Click on the icon in the extensions bar and, by default, it too thinks that the main video of the page is the comments box. But once you have the darkened space, you can also click and drag a square on the video area of the page to highlight it. In the Chrome Extensions options, we recommend you change the opacity to 90% or 100%, depending on your preference. To turn off the darkened background at any time, just click on the Cinematographia icon.
Tracking and Following
Google Chrome is again ahead of all the other browsers when it comes to tracking the IPL. The IPL on YouTube extension is the best resource to get a full listing of the match fixtures, as well as a live scorecard during matches. Users can also check the box next to any match to get a reminder when it is to be played. The extension also helpfully provides a link to the live YouTube video for the match.
You can also check the fixtures at Firstain
If you are not using Google Chrome, the best site to get the schedule of the IPL is at IPLSchedule.in. The site is really light on resources and loads quickly with a text listing of the date, time, teams and venue for each match – which is all the information you need.

Of course, for all IPL-related news, Cricinfo is still far ahead of the pack. Their mini-site for IPL 2010 provides everything you would need, from the latest news and live scorecards to featured articles and the most comprehensive listing of statistics on the Web.
Other sites to watch out for are Cricbuzz, CricketNext and Indian Cricket Fans. The latter has a great super selector game as well, if that is something you would like, and a cool forum to talk cricket.
You can alternatively check custom link for all IPL-related talk on Google News.
The modern cricketer is not averse to technology. The social networking micro-blog network of Twitter has its fair share of cricketers, as well as personalities related to the IPL. Follow them to find out what they’re thinking or simply send them a tweet to wish them luck or pick their mind on a certain topic.
