Defending champions Germany thrashed England and Australia defeated the Netherlands to make it to the final of the hockey World Cup.

This was the first time that Pakistan brought up the rear in their World Cup history: in 1986 they were one but last at 11th.

Germany roar into final

The defending champions Germany blew England away 4-1 in a one-sided semi-final match.

Australia win thrilling semi-final

The Aussies held off a Dutch backlash in the last few minutes to enter their fourth World Cup final.
