Make your folders totally 'invisible'

Make your folders totally invisible in a few simple steps.
  • Right Click on the desktop. Make a new folder
  • Now rename the folder with a space (you have to hold ALT key and type 0160)
  • Now you have a folder without a name
  • Right click on the folder>properties>customize. Click on change icon
  • Scroll a bit, you should find some empty spaces. Click on any one of them. Click ok
Thats it. Now you can store your personal data without any 3rd party tools.

Hold the ALT key & type in 0160.
This will give u a blank space (which you'll get even when you hit spacebar on your keyboard but problem here is you are not allowed to just hit spacebar & hit enter. It'll say invalid name or may not save at all)

So that's why, just hold ALT & type 0160 and you'll get a space. Just press enter & your folder will get saved with that name.

Please reply if could get it or have any more problems.

    Always ready to help :)

Hmmm... Have another alternative for you...

Go to Start >> Run >> type CHARMAP over there and press enter

This will open the Character Map. Scroll down a little more than 3/4 of the map, just above the Arabic alphabets. There you will find a line which has many dots (.)
Click on any one of them. In the bottom right click SELECT then COPY.

Then return to your desktop. Create new folder & for naming the folder dont write anything but instead paste what you had copied from CharMap. Then change icon as mentioned in original post on this topic.

Hope now you can get this trick working for you. Please do reply about your success with it. We'll be happy to hear about it.

At Firstain, we are always willing to satisfy our readers :)

      Regards,
      - Karan

Note: Simply pressing dot (.) from your keyboard when naming a folder will not help as it will ask for a valid file name. You can try & see it for yourself.
